I heard a great quote over the holidays, “If you’re not embarrassed by the person you were a year ago, you’re not learning enough.” I find this to be hilarious, and so true.
As we step into a new decade, I reflect on who I was a year ago, two years ago, ten years ago… embarrassing? Yes. Hilarious? Definitely.
One change I am proud of is taking charge of the holiday season and not falling victim to the stresses it used to cause. I personally find the holidays a bit stressful. Winter is a time for hibernation and introspection, yet we are pulled towards an abundance of activities, parties and social events which can cause internal conflict. This is the opposite of which our bodies and minds need.
Last year I made a commitment to make a carve out time for introspection and reflection to give my body and mind what it needs. I invited some of our Office Yogis along for the journey and it was one of the better decisions I have made.
I’m honored to be hosting our annual Out of office Yoga Retreat again this year, January 4-11, 2020 in Mexico. Remember – taking time to celebrate you means showing up as a better human to everyone else in your life, and beyond. When we commit to re-energizing through time off and R&R, we send the message that we care not only about our own wellbeing, but the wellbeing of all beings, everywhere.
Until next time, namaste OYOgies.
