Struggling With Self-Promotion? How to Unleash Your Authentic Voice as an Office Yoga Teacher

Promoting yourself as an Office Yoga teacher in the corporate world can feel like trying to do a headstand on a paddleboard—awkward, wobbly, and just plain hard. Self-promotion is hard enough, but doing it in an intimidating environment like a corporate setting? No thanks!

I can see why yoga teachers shy away from workplace yoga, but what if I told you there’s an easier path? By embracing your authentic voice, you can toot your own horn (gently) without sounding like a bragger. Let’s dive in:

1. Know Your Value as an Office Yoga Teacher

Before you put on your magic yoga work pants that make you feel like a rockstar, take a moment to figure out what makes you fabulous. What are your strengths? What challenges have you crushed? Listen to the feedback people share with you. Tell your friends and students that you’re working on a project, and ask them to identify your perceived strengths.

I was surprised when I went through this practice myself. Close friends and students said I make complex concepts easy to understand. Knowing your value is the first step to sharing it with confidence. Those of you who are Office Yoga Certified have an upper hand in sharing your value with clients.

Pro Tip: Jot down three wins that make you smile just thinking about them. These will become your self-promo go-tos.

2. Be Clear and Concise

I once took a class with a yoga teacher who talked nonstop about their life experiences. A good story makes for a great connection, but when the story doesn’t connect, you lose your audience. Nobody loves a ramble—especially in a corporate setting. Keep your self-promo game sharp and to the point. Whether it’s during a meeting or a quick coffee chat, make your value crystal clear.

Example: “I recently led a wellness workshop that boosted team morale and reduced stress. I’d be happy to help your organization experience the same benefits.”

3. Let Your Passion Shine

When you’re genuinely excited about your work, it shows. People love hearing from someone who’s clearly passionate and invested. So, let your enthusiasm flow like a good vinyasa class—smooth and natural.

Pro Tip: Practice your pitch with a friend to find the perfect balance between enthusiasm and overexuberance. (No one likes yoga teacher voice at full volume.)

4. Use Tools That Amplify Your Voice

If face-to-face isn’t your thing, let technology do the heavy lifting. Utilize LinkedIn, newsletters, or your company’s internal platforms to solicit feedback from your audience and share your achievements and insights. Bonus points for using a cheeky tone that’s true to you.

Pro Tip: Share practical tips alongside your wins. Everyone loves a post that’s both humble and helpful.

5. Celebrate Others

My teacher, Stephanie Snyder, would often receive compliments about how well her students felt after class; she would say, “It’s not me; it’s the yoga.” Self-promotion works better when it’s not all about you. Give credit to the teachers you’ve learned from and the sources you study.

If you work for an organization, be sure to shout out your colleagues’ wins. Crediting your coworkers makes you look good and builds genuine connections. Plus, it’s good karma.

Example: “My team crushed it on our last project! So proud to have been part of such an innovative and creative group.”

6. Reframe Your Mindset as an Office Yoga Teacher

Think of self-promotion as sharing value, not bragging. Instead of promoting how great you are as a yoga teacher, you’re sharing how yoga helps reduce stress and relieve chronic pain caused by prolonged sitting. Simple yoga techniques can make employees more focused and efficient at work. When you talk about your work, you’re showing others how you can help them succeed. That’s not bragging—that’s being a team player.
