OYO Sequence Series: Power Pose
We’ve all been there. You have minutes before that dreaded meeting, awkward conversation, or big presentation. You feel the anxiety building, and you might even start to sweat.
Do not fear! The Office Yoga® Team is here!
This OYO Flow sequence works wonders. Give it a try and watch yourself transform into the POWER HOUSE you know that you are!
Power Pose
Start in Tadasana. Inhale, reach your hands up and over your head. As you exhale, bend your elbows and squeeze your shoulder blades at the back of your heart. Rinse and repeat as many times as you’d like. We think 5x does the trick. Cactus Arms are essential!
Stay in Tadasana. Interlace your fingers behind your back and lift up through the center of your chest. You can even lay your head back and open up through your throat, if that feels okay on your neck! Send your breath into the frontside of your chest.
If you have the time and space, flow through a vinyasa. If not, no worries, you’ve got places to go and meetings to handle! Transition straight into Virabhadrasana 2, with your right foot forward. Hold for three rounds of breath.
Reverse your warrior, by reaching your right hand up and back on the inhale. Return to Virabhadrasana 2, straighten your right leg, and move into Trikonasana. Hold here for two rounds of breath.
Reach fingers wide, spreading through collarbones, look down at your right toes and take flight. Balancing on your right foot, extend out. Hold for three breaths.
Repeat on the left side.
Once you’ve worked your way through the Virabhadrasana 2 set, take a wide stance facing the long side of your mat. Root feet down into the floor and spread your arms up and over your head. Take up as much space as possible. Deep inhales and exhales – you can even close your eyes here. Visualize yourself totally kicking butt in this meeting!
To test your focus, balance on your right foot and draw your left foot to your inner thigh or calf for Tree Pose. Balance and hold for 3 rounds of breath.
You can then transition into your figure 4 variation by bringing your left ankle on top of your right thigh and sinking your hips back and down. Hands come to heart center. Keep your gaze focused.
Switch sides. To polish things off, take Goddess Pose for seven breaths. Yes, SEVEN. Tap into your inhales and your exhales and stay focused on what is in front of you. Once you are done, stand in Tadasana.
Close your eyes, choose your intention, and then walk into that meeting like a boss.
Go fourth, be awesome, and always remember, stay kind, OYOgies. Until next time!
